Former Artistic Director of Dance Base

 

Morag Deyes MBE is former Artistic Director and founder member of Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance in Edinburgh. She curated the award winning international Fringe programme there for 16 years (working with Taiwan Season for 9 of those years)

Morag Deyes MBE was artistic director and creative force behind Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for dance from 1994 - 2022. Since handing that role on she has been researching, mentoring, teaching and creating opportunities for dance internationally. Currently she is investigating classical, tribal, folk and contemporary dance in India with a view to creating a residency network and an intergenerational project in Nagaland and Assam. She is mentoring Taiwanese integrated dance company Resident Island Dance Theatre as well as Aditi Mangaldas in New Delhi. She is passionate about celebrating the strength and presence of elders having created the UKs first semi professional elder dance company (PRIME). Morag is valued by dance makers as an outside eye/ mentor during their creative process.
