Now in its 12th year, Taiwan Season returns with magic, memory and meaning — direct from Asia’s creative frontier.

Taiwan Season, the Ministry of Culture Taiwan’s long-standing platform for showcasing exceptional performing arts. Marks its 12th edition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a captivating lineup of new voices, bold imagination and deeply human stories.

Presented under the theme “A Glimpse of Taiwan”, this year’s programme brings four distinct yet thematically connected works spanning theatre, dance and family-friendly storytelling. Each explores identity, tradition and transformation often with humour, heart and visual inventiveness.
• In Dazed and Confused (Lu Production), Lin Lu-Chieh fuses dazzling sleight-of-hand with poignant coming-of-age memoir in a solo magic-theatre hybrid.
Where Has All the Fruit Gone? (Yinalang Group) offers a playful meditation on family, migration and Lunar New Year memories through tangerines and object theatre.
• The wordless Whale, Where Are You Going? (S. Production) brings puppetry and shadow play together in an intergenerational story about loneliness and wonder.
• And in Trace of Belief (Chun Dance), a powerful new dance work from Chun Dance, Taiwan’s sacred rituals merge with contemporary movement in a poetic exploration of spiritual grounding.

Each piece is either a European or Fringe premiere, presented at Assembly, Dance Base and Underbelly — venues that continue to champion international innovation.

Let Taiwan Season surprise you again. Or for the first time. And experience how one small island can tell stories that speak to the world.
